Computerized Vehicle Registration (CVR) Privacy Statement

Your privacy is important to us. Our guidelines for protecting the privacy of those who use the CVR training and support website are described below.

What is personally identifiable information?
"Personally identifiable information" is information about you, such as name, address, e-mail address, user ID, driver’s license, and so on.

How is information collected and used?
Our primary goal in collecting information from you is to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience while using our services. This allows us to provide services and features that most likely meet your needs, and to customize our service to make your experience easier and quicker. In connection with the use of CVR services, we will request that you voluntarily supply us with personally identifiable information, including your e-mail address, driver’s license number, telephone number, or other information. Whether you provide any information is entirely up to you. Failure, however, to provide this information may preclude your use of CVR services.

Except as discussed below, we do not sell or rent personally identifiable information collected through this site to anyone without your consent. However, we may, without notice to you, provide aggregate statistics about visitors to this site, such as volume, traffic patterns, and related site information to third-party vendors, but these statistics will include no personally identifiable information. We may disclose information without your consent, including personally identifiable information, in special cases when we have a good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect and defend our rights or property; (c) enforce any terms or conditions of use of CVR software or services, or (d) act to protect the interests of our users or others.

What are cookies and how are they used?
CVR, like many other commercial websites, utilizes a standard technology called "cookies". Cookies were designed to help a website determine that a particular user had visited the site previously and thus save and remember any preferences that may have been set while the user was browsing the site. Cookies are small strings of text that websites can send to your browser. Cookies cannot retrieve any other data from your hard drive or obtain your e-mail address. If you are simply browsing the CVR website, a cookie may be used to identify your browser as one that has visited the site before. Once you are a registered user of CVR (and have a user ID and password), we may use cookies so that we can provide personalized information based on preferences you have indicated while using the site. Although you have the ability to modify your browser to either accept all cookies, notify you when a cookie is sent, or reject all cookies, it may not be possible to utilize CVR services which require registration if you reject cookies.

What is Clickstream data and how is it used?
As you browse the Internet, a trail of electronic information is left at each web site you visit. This information, which is sometimes called “clickstream” data, can be collected and stored by a web site’s server. Clickstream data can tell us the type of computer and browsing software you use, the address of the web site from which you linked to CVR, and in some instances, your e-mail address. We may use clickstream data to determine how much time visitors spend on each page of our site and how they navigate throughout the site. We will only use this information to improve the CVR web site. Any collection or use of clickstream data will be anonymous and aggregate, and will not contain any personal information.

What are your choices regarding collection, use, and distribution of your
personally identifiable information?

If you have voluntarily provided personally identifiable information, you consented to the collection and use of your personally identifiable information in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy. If, in connection with your use of a particular service, we ask to use your personally identifiable information in a way not described in this Privacy Policy and you do not wish to permit that use, you can choose not to use the particular service. Your use of such service will be your consent to the use of your personally identifiable information in the way described.

We may, from time to time, send you e-mail regarding products and services. If you do not want to receive such offers and mailings, you can easily indicate that by simply electing to opt-out of receiving future e-mail by following the opt-out instructions provided in the e-mail.

How can you correct, access, and update your information?
You may be sent an email to view and edit your personally identifiable information at any time by calling CVR at 800-333-6995, or by Clicking on the client information button on the left navigation menu on any screen on the CVR web site(s).

Security
We exercise great care to protect your personally identifiable information. This includes, among other things, providing for secure transmission of information from your PC to the CVR web servers, then storing the information encrypted on our servers, behind a firewall. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or receive from us. This is especially true for information you transmit to us via e-mail. We have no way of protecting that information until it reaches us. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our servers.

We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. We will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited e-mail.

Internally, we will restrict access to personal information to employees who need access to the information in order to do their jobs. These employees are limited in number, and are committed to our privacy and security policies. We will review our security arrangements from time to time as we deem appropriate.

Because we conduct business with state and local government, and may also be governed by federal regulations, CVR may at times be audited for privacy protection, and may make changes as required.

From time to time, we may change this Privacy Policy. For example, as we update and improve our service, new features may require modifications to the Privacy Policy. Accordingly, please check back periodically.
